Richard Paul Dapore

Richard (“Dick”) Paul Dapore, born September 18, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away on March 2, 2017, after a battle with heart disease. He was raised in Versailles, Ohio, where soon after graduating high school, he found the love of his life, Margie. Dick and Margie soon married in the nearby town (since the local church was under construction) of Osgood, Ohio, on June 30, 1962. They were happily married for 54 years.

Dick attended Sinclair College for two years and briefly worked a job in accounting before landing a job at Swift and Company in Greenville, Ohio. There, he utilized his passion for dealing with people, and realized his talent for sales, while selling fertilizer to farmers.

After living in a few different parts of the Midwest, Dick and Margie settled in Longwood, Florida, where Dick and lifelong friend, Lou Haubner, started a real estate company in 1974. By then, they had also been blessed with four children: Chris, Diane, David, and Jason. It wasn’t long after they moved to Longwood that they also became members of Nativity Catholic Church where they remained longtime parishioners.

Dick enjoyed a successful career in real estate where he was, at one time, President of the local Realtors Association. In 1979, Dick and Margie built their dream home on Evansdale Road in Lake Mary, Florida, where they made many new friends and neighbors. Dick enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in the yard, and, over the years, developed a sizeable sago palm nursery that many would say (in particular his sons, who helped him work on it often) turned into much more than a hobby.

Upon retiring, Dick and Margie settled on a small farm in Sorrento, Florida, where they had some cattle, chickens, and a nice vegetable garden - taking Dick back to his roots of growing up on a farm in Ohio. Dick also enjoyed hunting again in retirement and he was a Diamond Life Member of the NWTF chapter in Apopka.

He has a younger brother, Edward and Cynthia Dapore, in Kettering, Ohio, an older sister, Marilyn and Roy Howard, in Carlsbad, California. Dick and Margie have four children: Chris and Debbi Dapore, Lake Mary, FL; Diane and Joe Rosser, Sanford, FL; David and Michelle Dapore, Deltona, FL; Jason Dapore and Kari, Sanford, FL. They have 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Justin, Emma, Reid, and Holden. They also have 4 step-grandchildren: Jason, Kristen, Brittany, and Austin. Lastly, they have 6 great grandchildren.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, we will remember you always. Although you are gone from this earth, you will continue to live on in spirit. Your smile, your kind and humble soul, will remain with us for eternity.
