He was born on December 26, 1927 to Kate and Gordon Brooks in Lake Providence, Louisiana. He is predeceased by His Parents; His Wife, Gladys Brooks of Sanford, Florida; His Brother, Hammond Brooks of Starkville, Mississippi; and His Step-sister, Deryl Brooks Taylor of Anderson, South Carolina, and A Niece, Mary Ann Livingston of Starkville, Mississippi. He is survived by Two Step-daughters: Deborah Ward and Sharon Baragona of Central Florida; A Niece: Jayne Gimber of Lexington, South Carolina; and Two Nephews: James Brooks of Pearl, Mississippi and Robert Brooks of Couch, Missouri.
Bob grew up in both Providence, La. and Starkville, Ms. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He served in the Air Force at Tyndall Air Force base in Panama City, Florida and later in the Air Force Reserves where he achieved the rank of Colonel.
After moving to the Orlando area, he worked for Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin for 33 years. He was a Past President of the Retired Officers Association at both the local and National levels.
Bob married Gladys, the love of his life and after retirement, he and his wife, Gladys both enjoyed traveling and working in the yard. After the death of his wife, Bob moved to Oakmonte Village in Lake Mary, Florida.
He was a member of Central Church of Sanford, Florida.
A celebration of life service is scheduled at 11am on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home Oaklawn, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
