

Robert Willard Hawkes, born June 1, 1919 passed away at age 95 surrounded by his family. Bob served in the Air Force as a pilot during WWII and it was during that war that he met and married his wife of 68 years, Norma Hoolihan from Townsville, Australia. Born in Leavitsburg, OH, Bob was only child to Richard and Irma Hawkes. After the war, he and Norma were stationed in Vacaville, CA where oldest daughter, Sherryn and twins, Rochelle and Richard were born. They were relocated to Mobile, AL and then moved to Warren, OH in where he served in the Air Force Reserve at Youngstown Airbase as Lt. Colonel and where youngest son, Robert Thaddeus (Thad) was born. Bob worked for Republic Steel in his final years of work. They made many wonderful, lifelong friends during their time in Warren. In 1990, Bob and Norma left their home of 35 years and moved to Orlando, where they joined Thad, Sherryn and her husband Cal Hay in Heathrow. He was an avid tennis player, loved to fish and spent many summers in Canada at his father’s home on Stoney Lake. Bob was a friend to all. He never met a stranger and everyone considered him a kind and gentle person and he had a very good life. He will be missed by wife Norma, daughter Sherryn and son in law Calvin Hay, daughter Rochelle and son in law Richard Krok, son Richard and daughter in law Melissa Hawkes, son Thad and daughter in law Jennifer McKibbin Hawkes. Grandchildren Sara Mayer Kopton (husband Dan), Dana Mayer Lacefield (husband Connor), Christopher Ahern (wife Jennifer), Randy Krok, Travis Hawkes, Tyler and Chandler Hawkes, Megan Hay Feindt (husband Thomas) and Heather Hay and great grandchildren Makenna and Chase Ahern, Henry Lacefield, Reid, Addison and Charlotte Feindt.
