Stanley was born on November 26, 1928, in St. Ann, Jamaica, to Walter and Laura Pyne. The second youngest of twelve children, he was raised in a home filled with faith, discipline, laughter, and love; values that shaped the man he would become and carried with him throughout his life.
Stanley lived and worked in many parts of Jamaica, including Mandeville, Clarendon, Gordon Town and Kingston. One ordinary day, while waiting at a bus stop in Kingston, Jamaica, his life changed forever when he met Daphne, the woman who would become his wife and lifelong partner. They married in 1956 and shared 65 years of love, commitment, and devotion. Together, they raised five children: Pauline, Spencer, Michael, Noel, and Janice.
A man of many talents, Stanley worked in numerous trades in Jamaica, which contributed to his ingenuity and hands on skill earning him the family nickname “Mr. Fix It”, a title that reflected not only his skill, but his willingness to help anyone in need.
In 1969, Stanley followed his beloved wife and immigrated to the United States, residing in Summit NJ and settled in Plainfield, New Jersey. He showed his love through his actions whether it was cooking meals, fixing cars, or managing the Combined Island Cricket club. Though far from home, Jamaica never left his heart, and he remained deeply connected to his roots.
In 1993, after dedicating over 25 years of faithful service at Hoover’s, Inc., Stanley retired as a Major Appliance Technician. With their working years behind them, a new chapter began. After many cold winters, he and Daphne moved to Deltona, Florida where they found warmth, community, and home.
Stanley found joy in life’s simple blessings. His home was often filled with music playing as he cooked or worked in his garden. A self-proclaimed horticulturist, he took pride in growing food with his own hands and found great joy in sharing his harvest with others. He loved telling stories, especially those rooted in history and life lessons, and he shared his wisdom freely. Even in his later years, Stanley’s mind remained sharp, anchored by his belief in “mind over matter.” With quiet strength, he taught by example how to stay calm, live humbly, love deeply, and move through life with purpose. His gentle reminders, “Don’t hang your hat too high,” and “You are the master of your destiny” were lessons lived daily. In the Pyne household, the word “can’t” simply did not exist.
At the age of 93, Stanley was baptized at Greater Refuge Memorial Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., where he was a devoted and beloved member. His church family will forever hold him close in memory and in heart.
Stanley is now reunited with his beloved wife, Daphne. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, faith, and service that lives on through his children: Pauline Arthur (Erno), Spencer Pyne, Michael Pyne (Maureen), Noel Pyne, and Janice Salmon (Lenny); his 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He is predeceased by his daughter Carmaleta Duquesnay.
Stanley will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 17th, at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel and Cemetery, located at 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida. Viewing will be held from 12:30p-1:30p, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service.
Walk good, Stanley. You have poured so much into this world. Your love remains, your lessons endure, and your rest is now well deserved.
