Victor was born on August 26, 1926 in Kansas City, MO, son of the late Neal and Agnes Ham of St. Louis, MO, and died on March 3, 2023. Victor served in the Navy as an Electronic Technician’s Mate Third Class during WWII. He graduated from Cornell University in electrical engineering and was general manager of the condenser division of Ingersoll Rand Company in Phillipsburg, N.J. before retiring after 31 years. He was married to Mary Ellen Pittroff Ham for fifty four years prior to her death in 2012. He considered his choice in wife as the best decision he ever made in his life and talked about her until the day he died. He is survived by his daughter and son-on-law, Ansley and David Holt of Winter Park, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Laura Ham of North Palm Beach, FL; and three grandchildren, Reid Ham, Nancy Ham and Alexander Holt.
Victor had many interests including reading, flying, bridge, sudoku puzzles, singing and playing clarinet and the saxophone in a big band during high school and college. He traveled the world with his career expanding business to Europe, China and Japan. His last trip in his early 90’s was to visit the Panama Canal, a life long bucket list item. His years of study about the solar system’s formation and the origins of humans led him to write an extensive paper which he taught at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Village on the Green and at Rollins College. He was a true renaissance man and a life long learner.
Victor enjoyed living in Heathrow and was on the Board of Directors of Heathrow Lakes Maintenance Association, a Vestry member, lector and usher at Holy Cross Episcopal Church and a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. He was generous with his time, talents and resources and will be missed by his family and friends.
