In loving memory of Antonio Alvarez, a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Antonio died peacefully in his home in Santa Ana at the young age of 82. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Ana Maria, his daughters Elena, Ana, Claudia and Barbarita, his grandchildren Izzy and Sammy and his son-in-law, Brad.
Antonio believed in the American dream and pursued it. He moved his young family from Mexico in 1979 to the city he came to love, Santa Ana. Antonio gladly sacrificed and provided for his family working day and night factory jobs. He was a small businessman at heart and proudly opened Spanish Alvarez Associates in the heart of downtown Santa Ana, Calle Cuatro in the early eighties. He, along with his wife, guided each of his daughters to becoming the strong successful women they are today.
Antonio was an intellectual whose thirst for knowledge never quenched. He was an avid reader with particular interest in world history, politics, and geography. Antonio loved collecting books. He acquired new ones almost daily and treasured each and every one of them. Antonio also had a passion for music of every kind and genre. He tapped into his vast music collection every day, blasting it around the house from the minute he woke up and often to the minute he went to bed. Most specially, Antonio loved a good Mariachi. Among his favorite songs were Ella, El Rey, Caminos de Guanajuato, Cruz De Olvido, A Mi Manera and as of late, Puno de Tierra.
Antonio strongly believed in justice and equity, often speaking up on their behalf. He also believed in access to higher education, helping the disadvantaged, the poor and the immigrant community. Antonio also had a great sense of humor, loved playing Dominoes and Uno and had a passion for travel. Antonio also wrote a book, Gringos En Ingles.
Antonio was a smart, kind and funny person who will be dearly missed. We were blessed to have him here with us and will always remember him with love. May he fill heaven with his kindness, humor and intellect as he did our lives here on earth. May Antonio forever rest in peace.

Without You
Lonely is the home without you, life to us is not the same, all the world would be like heaven, if we could have you back again.
A light is from our household gone, a voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled.
May the God of Love and Mercy care our loved one who is gone and bless with consolation those left to carry on.
The happy hours we once enjoyed, how sweet their memory still, but death has left a vacant place, this world can never fill
How dearly we loved you and prayed you might live, but Jesus just beckoned, and we had to give.
God gave us strength to bear it and courage to fight the blow.
What it has meant to lose you,
God alone will ever know.
