

It is with our deepest sorrow to announce that Gerald 'Jerry' Edward Fanning peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 17 at 8:32 am at Kaiser Hospital in Irvine, surrounded by his family with lots of love and support.
Jerry was a proud member of the Navy, serving on the USS Saint Paul 1964 - 1968, a computer programmer for Altec Lansing and the city of Anaheim, and worked part-time as a security guard at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach 2007 -2021.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, making handy man repairs, supporting desert race trucks, and always helping others.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Gloria, son Christopher Fanning (wife Kathleen Owston-Fanning, grandson Keller Fanning), daughter Sherri Galindo-Fanning, sister Connie Stephens, brother Irvin Platt, sister Sherry Hess, Gloria’s daughter Lauri Johnson, grandson Alex Kingaard (great granddaughter Harmony Kingaard), grandson Charles Dignam, and many extended family nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his father Edward Fanning, mother Nellie Platt, and sisters Joyce Canovai, Jean Lentz, and Patricia Kelly.
A visitation will be held on September 5, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Waverley Chapel, located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
The funeral service is scheduled for the same day, September 5, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the same venue.
A graveside service will follow on September 5, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, North Gardens.
