Hermelinda Ruiz Cortez

She was born on February 1, 1935 in Michoacan, Mexico. She was one of nine children born to Agustin and Maria de Jesus Ruiz.

On Palm Sunday in 1954 she married Benjamin Cortez at Iglesia de San Francisco in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico. They were married for 56 years and together they raised six children. She exhibited signs of great love & admiration for her family and friends. Hermelinda was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Santa Ana, CA.

She is survived by her husband Benjamin, daughter Maria & her husband Jose Castellanos, daughter Lucia Cortez, Son Ruben and his wife Inez Rose Cortez, daughter Guadalupe Alondra and her husband Luis Rodriguez, son Jose Luis, son Juan Luis and his wife Sandra Cortez, step-son Jaime and his wife Rose Weyman. She is survived by 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family is comforted with the belief that she is in the arms of our Lord, pain free and a guardian Angel for us all. A celebration of her life will begin on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel MacDougall Family Mortuary in Santa Ana, CA. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pillar Church in Santa Ana, CA.
