Irene Nan Pulizzi

Irene Nan Pulizzi (Daugirda) was born Saturday June 1, 1935 in Rockford, Illinois to Joseph and Beatrice (Rossi) Daugirda and passed away on Tuesday January 2, 2019 at the age of 83 in Orange, CA at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by family. She married Peter Pulizzi on June 11, 1955 at St. James Catholic Church in Rockford, IL. One of Irene’s many greatest accomplishments, other than her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, was being the co-founder of Pulizzi Engineering, Inc, an international company, which employed hundreds of people over the years. Irene graduated Newport Harbor Union High School in CA in 1953 and studied Nursing at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, IL.

Surviving are her husband Peter Pulizzi, son Mike and his wife Susan, son Peter and his wife Kathy, and her daughter Saralyn and her husband Michael Beirne. Grandchildren Calvin and his wife Samantha, Joey, Peter, Jessica and her husband Al Gonzalez, David, Erin and Patrick, great grandchildren Joshua, Alexia, Makenzie, and Ethan, her sister Hedy Alkire and nephew Jason Alkire and his wife Leticia and niece Lorelei Alkire Irbe as well as numerous other nephews, nieces and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry, and her nephew John Alkire.

A special thanks to her best friend and cat Pale, thank you for loving your mom so very much, we all know how much she loved you. Also a heart felt thanks to the St. Joseph’s Hospital staff and Fr. Patrick that cared for Irene.

Visitation will be at Fairhaven Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday January 8th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and funeral services and reception will be on Wednesday January 9th at 1:30pm, also at Fairhaven in Santa Ana CA. Please call Fairhaven at 714-633-1442 with any questions.
