A devoted husband, James shared 55 loving years of marriage with his wife, Janet McNulty. Together they raised four children. He is survived by his son James (Jim) McNulty and his daughter Anne Martinez. He is preceded in death by two of his children, Sue Ellen and Mark, whom he now rejoins in eternal rest.
James was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each a source of immense joy and pride. Family was always his greatest treasure.
Professionally, James built a distinguished career, retiring as Vice President of Montgomery Ward, where he was respected for his sharp leadership, integrity, and unwavering work ethic.
James was also deeply committed to service. He served as Resident President of Ivy Park at Laguna Woods, where his guidance and compassion strengthened the community he loved. He further contributed as a community leader on the board of the MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center Foundation, helping advance healthcare resources and support for countless local families.
In addition to his leadership, James held a lifelong belief in the power of giving back. He was especially proud of the Janet Fern McNulty Endowed Nursing Scholarship and numerous charitable contributions honoring his beloved wife and supporting the next generation of nurses. This scholarship stands as a lasting testament to his generosity and his dedication to improving the lives of others.
James will be remembered for his warmth, his steady presence, his generosity, and the love he shared so freely. His legacy lives on in his family, his community, and the many lives uplifted by his kindness.
A life well lived, and a man deeply loved—he will be missed beyond measure.
