Lee was born in Sacramento, California to Richard and Alice (Palo) Dodge. He was the youngest of three children. Lee's father was in the Air Force so the Dodge family had moved around a bit during Lee's growing years. Lee continually expressed fond memories of the time his family lived in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Lee spent his teenage years in Garden Grove, California where he attended Bolsa Grande High School. After an early graduation, Lee began to work in the construction field.
It was not long after graduation that Lee met Vickie Kirk through some mutual friends. It was a whirlwind romance with the two marrying five months later on August 7, 1976. Lee and Vickie had celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary two weeks before Lee's passing.
Lee was an avid Angels fan, taking his family to many games. Lee was disappointed when the Anaheim Angels name was changed to the Los Angeles Angels, but that didn't stop him from being a huge fan.
Lee was a man who loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He thrived on adventures such as off-roading, camping,
and wakeboarding. Some of his favorite destinations were the Colorado River, Glamis, and Lake Powell.
Lee has worked for various contractors over the years. After spending over twenty years working as a foreman for Putman Construction and Landscape the company closed up shop in California. Lee then made the decision to start his own business, Southwest Masonry. He always enjoyed the work from designing the job to estimating and bidding on the job. Lee worked with his customers to ensure they were satisfied with the completion of the project. After retiring in 2012 Lee discovered new interests and hobbies. He found a passion for wood carving, gifting many of his creations to loved ones.
In addition to woodworking, he enjoyed gardening and cooking over an open fire. Lee found enjoyment in smoking meat in his Pit Barrel and then delivering it to his loved ones.
Lee and Vickie attended Calvary Chapel East Anaheim. This is where Lee surrendered his life to Jesus and was baptized in September 2020. Lee was filled with joy and had a heart for Jesus. He had a smile for all and was kind to everyone he met. Lee was committed to continuing his walk with Jesus. Lee spent much of his morning hours praying and studying God's word.
Lee is survived by his wife Vickie, two sons Adam (Michelle), Blake (Bre), and three grandchildren, Ethan, April, and Peyton. In addition, Lee is survived by his sister Jeri Johnson, and brother Jay Dodge, both of Yakima, Washington, along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Lee Dodge will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing this good man.
One of Lee's favorite quotes to share with others is as follows:
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness
Bad days give you experience
Worst days give you lessons
Best days give you memories
A celebration of Lee's life will be held on January 30, 2025.
Time and location to be announced at a later date.
