

Maria Velia Vega, age 97, of Santa Ana, California, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She resided at 2034 W. 7th Street, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith, devotion, and resilience.
Maria was born on July 23, 1928, in Tucson, Arizona. On March 4, 1950, she married Alfred M. Vega, building a life together rooted in love, faith, and dedication that became the foundation for generations of her family.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Maria poured her heart into her home and family. She found joy in tending to her garden and drew strength from her Catholic faith, living a life of prayer, devotion, and unwavering commitment. Her resilience and determination shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a lasting legacy of courage and steadfastness.
Maria is survived by her children: Margie Marez, Sandra Ghiliotty, Pauline Vega, Alfred Vega Jr., Caroline Lizarraga, Doreen Flores, and Patricia Lara. She was a proud grandmother to 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was reunited in heaven with her children, Sylvia Pelester, Christina Gabrielson, and Debra Valedez.
