She later attended Mills College where she met her husband George who was attending CAL Berkeley. They moved to Santa Ana in 1950 and raised three girls.
During this time Marilyn served in various charities, such as Assistance League of Santa Ana and Chapter GJ in P.E.O. She later became a teacher for the Orange Unified School District. Her love for art and watercolors led her to study under such great teachers as Roger Armstrong and Dong Kingman.
She ran a small gallery in Laguna Beach where she sold her art. She later illustrated a children’s book that her daughter Carolyn wrote.
She was an amazing person and loving mother and will be missed by her daughters Carolyn Femrite, Joan Durazo, and Bonnie Stockton, and her grandchildren Rebecca Tellier, Amy Cohen, Mitchel and Madison Stockton, and great grandchildren Jordan and Genevieve.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Chapter GJ in PEO.
A memorial service for Marilyn will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Waverley Chapel. A reception will follow from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
