

Nancy Erlinda (Lan Franco) Jones
Nancy was born March 27, 1933 in Orange at the Orange County Hospital to William and Addie (Cervantes) Lan Franco, and passed away in Santa Ana at The Orange County Global Medical Center on March 9, 2021. She attended Orange Union High School, during which she enjoyed activities such as softball, horseback riding, and sewing. After graduating in 1951, she worked as a switchboard operator in Orange for Pacific Telephone. She married Hubert H. Jones, Jr. in 1955. They raised their four children in Orange, two blocks from where her mother Addie grew up.
A sixth generation Californian, Nancy was descended from some of the earliest and most prominent families in the state, such as the Sepulvedas, Yorbas, Grijalvas, and Lugos.. She was always happy to share her knowledge of local history with others, especially curious strangers.
She joined Hugh in league bowling and service organizations Telephone Pioneers and XYZ Club, as Hugh also had a career with the telephone company. One of her more recent joys was attending the monthly OUHS Class of 1951 luncheon held at Polly’s Pies, There was always about a dozen or so of her former classmates in attendance (“Once a Panther always a Panther”). They are currently on a Covid-19 hiatus, but she will be missed.
Nancy was predeceased in death by her parents, husband, sisters Dorothea Folwell and Carol Stowell, and brother William “Tom” Lan Franco. She is dearly missed by her sons Randel (Zach), Scott (Janet), and Jeffrey (Katie), grandson Jeffrey (Samantha), granddaughters Jordin and Dillon, a great-grandson, Logan, scores of nieces and nephews, and good friend and good neighbor, Paula Hill. Nancy’s daughter Jennifer passed away on June 23, 2021.
Jennifer Ena Jones
Jennifer was born July 10, 1962 in Santa Ana at the Santa Ana Community Hospital to the late Hubert and Nancy (Lan Franco) Jones, and passed away in Orange at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 23, 2021. She graduated from El Modena High School in 1980, where she excelled in mathematics and athletics, especially basketball and softball. She enjoyed a long career in the worker’s compensation insurance field, and leaves behind many friends from both her personal and professional life.
A seventh generation Californian, Jennifer was descended from some of the earliest and most prominent families in the state, such as the Sepulvedas, Yorbas, Grijalvas, and Lugos. She was raised two blocks from where her great-grandparents raised their children on the banks of the Santiago Creek. She shared her mother’s love of local history, and spent most of her adult life living within earshot of the wild parrots in Orange’s Old Towne District.
Jennifer was predeceased by her parents. She is dearly missed by her brothers Randel (Zach), Scott (Janet), and Jeffrey (Katie), nephew Jeffrey (Samantha), nieces Jordin and Dillon, a great-nephew, Logan, and scores of cousins.
A joint memorial will be held for Jennifer and Nancy at Fairhaven Memorial Park’s Waverly Chapel on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 A.M.
