Subodh was born on February 20, 1947, in Ahmedabad, Bombay Presidency, British India, the fifth of eight children of Vrajlal and Shantaben Sheth.
After graduating with his bachelor’s degree from H.L. He worked in the healthcare technology industry for nearly forty years, most notably for McDonnell Douglas and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Subodh married Rekha in Ahmedabad in 1975, and they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in February. They had one son, Neil, and one daughter, Niki. He was heavily involved in his community, serving as president and committee member of the Jain Social Group and serving as an active member of the Jain Center of Southern California.
Subodh was well known for his sense of humor and his stories, many of which were mostly true. He was also known for his love of all sports, including baseball (in which he brainwashed his children into rooting for the teams he liked), football (in which he brainwashed his children into rooting for the teams he liked), and basketball (in which he brainwashed his children into rooting for the teams he liked). The advent of satellite television allowed him to re-indulge in his childhood passion for cricket.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Niki, who inherited his love of life and his ability to make people laugh. Niki shared his gift of embellishment and exaggeration, and his family takes comfort that the two of them are reunited and telling each other hilarious half-truths.
He was also predeceased by his parents, his older brother Harshad, and his older sisters Hansaben and Ushaben.
Subodh is survived by his wife Rekha, his son Neil, his daughter-in-law Sreoshi, his granddaughter Amiya, his granddaughter Kamala, his granddaughter Sahana, his sister-in-law Bharti, his brother Jayesh and sister-in-law Sarika, and his sister Malti and brother-in-law Dilip.
