She leaves behind her devoted husband of over 50 years, Al Alcaraz; her son, Alex, and daughter-in-law, Lori; her daughter, Annie, and son-in-law, Jeff; as well as her treasured two granddaughters. Sue Ellen also leaves behind her cherished cat and three grand puppies, who brought her much joy and excitement.
A devoted elementary school teacher and mentor for many years, Sue Ellen had a passion for nurturing and inspiring young minds. Her love for learning extended far beyond the classroom, and she touched the lives of many children and fellow teachers with her kindness, patience, encouragement, and dedication.
Outside of her professional life, Sue Ellen was a woman of many talents and interests. She had an undeniable passion for cooking, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends, especially her pumpkin pie and chocolate cake. Her love of nature and gardening was evident in the beautiful roses she carefully tended to in her garden. She also found peace in the simple pleasures of life, like sipping tea, reading a good book, writing down recipes, or traveling to new places with her family.
Sue Ellen’s thoughtful nature extended to all those around her. Whether it was sending a handwritten note, a kind letter, making a phone call, or a surprise gift for no special reason at all, she made it a point to stay connected with the people she cared about. Her ability to make others feel special and appreciated was one of the many gifts she shared with the world.
Sue Ellen’s presence in this world will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched—both in her family, her friends, and in her work as an educator. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, her listening ear, her love for connecting with others in meaningful ways, and her deep appreciation for the beauty of life.
