The Life of WALTER A NIXON Born: December 21, 1922, in Logan Ohio Lived: Raised and lived in Glendale, California Graduated: Glendale High School, Glendale College National School, earned Marine Electrician Certificate Military Service: 1943-1945 First Class Fire Control on U.S.S. Manila Bay Timed Big Guns on side of Aircraft Carrier, Using a computer to calculate the quardinence. Fought in 9 Battles, help Free the Phillipine Islands, And survived 2 Kamikaze attacks, one hitting center of ship. Civilian Life: Worked with the Telephone company for 35 years, As installer, climbing poles, promoted to upper management/ Sales & Marketing Dept. Liason for Phone company with Lockheed, Burbank Airport, Litton Industries, and NBC Studios. Private Life: included a family life, being a good Father, 4 “D.I.Y. er” Do it Yourself repairs on his cars and house. Enjoyed watching Football. Friends: He had so many friends, at each location of his life. Faith: Attended Trinity Methodist Church, Los Angeles, California. Became a Christian in his Teen years. He had a close relationship with God. Youth Leader, Elder and attended Adult Classes at Glendale Presbyterian Church, Glendale, California.
