Angelita “Chacha” Hernandez, 68 passed away peacefully in her home on March 5, 2014. She was born in Brawley, California, on August 2, 1945. Although Chacha was born with a developmental disability, never attended school, and never married, she taught everyone who knew
her much about life and love. Chacha was extremely social and had an infectious smile with an open hand for anyone she met. She was loved by all and took pleasure in the attention she naturally received by being so friendly. Chacha enjoyed road trips and would frequently point out her favorite fast food restaurants along the way (sometimes commenting “Chacha’s hungry”). She loved dogs, including petting them, kissing them, and being kissed by them. She also liked her collection of stuffed animals. Chacha was preceded in death by both parents, Manuel “Nel” and Georgia “Goya” Hernandez, who loved her and made sure she was safe and well-cared for. Chacha is survived by her older brother, Manuel R. Hernandez (Josie), her younger brother, Joseph L. Hernandez (Michelle), and by her younger sister, Virginia “Quina” Sapien (Sam). Chacha is survived by three nephews: Joel Hernandez (Kim), Joseph Hernandez (Jackie), and Juan Hernandez. She is survived by six grandnephews and grandnieces: Jacob, Jessica, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, and Gabriella Hernandez. Chacha is also survived by her care-provider family, Joselino, Magdalena, Joel, and Abigail Lopez, who took meticulous care of her. They loved her and made Chacha part of their family for almost 13 years. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11:00AM with Visitation at 10:00AM at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Interment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
