Please accept my condolences on the passing of Barbara Nunes - a beautiful human being, caring, supportive, cheerful, talented and always ready to help others of all ages. We were both members of Quota International of Cupertino and my children went through the Cupertino schools. You could always count on Barbara to be there to help, lend a hand, offer advice or an opinion and support. I treasure our friendship deep in my heart. Love and prayers to Barbara and her family.

Barbara gave me my first job in the Fremont Union High School District.  I was a young with no computer experience and she hired me to run a small math computer lab. From there she encouraged me to take the position as Lynbrook’s computer lab manager.  Eventually I made my way to the district office  where her support was welcomed. She was always so kind and supportive.  Both, Ray and I will miss her deeply. 

Mrs. Wilson was our Class Advisor at Cupertino High (class of 1971).  We held our reunion on September 18th shortly after she passed.   She instilled in our class a real spirit like no other person could have and along the way changed many lives for the better.  Mrs. Wilson will be missed and will live with us all forever.  Attached is a picture we had posted at our reunion. 

I'm positive there are going to be a million stories that start this way--but it is absolutely TRUE: Barbara changed my whole life. When she came to my former school for our WASC accreditation to check on our progress--she found us in complete disarray and that was when they asked me to step in as the WASC Coordinator.  This additional job literally took over my entire life until it was over. But because of the help and guidance from Barbara, we were able to get accredited against all odds. She also convinced me to serve on a WASC Team with her and see the process in action at other places. I learned that sometimes the grass IS greener (not always) and I started looking for a new District to call home. I wanted to find a place that would treat me like family and made life better for its students. I kept hearing about how "amazing" her District at FUHSD was. She never bragged, she would simply say, "Oh well at FUHSD...." So when a job came up at  EdOps, I figured I should at least give it a shot--they were "my people" at least. Here I am in my 9th year at EdOps  with my "tribe" and every single day I am thankful for the move and think of her. I would have never left to find what I needed and go to a place where students got what they needed and deserved--without her. Barbara really did have an amazing District and was one of the people responsible for its greatness. When I had my son (from IVF I could not have been able to afford without being at FUHSD), she sent me a gift. He wore it for an epic picture of his smile covered with pulled pork and every time I see it in the frame I think of her. I hope she knew how much her mentorship and leadership meant to me and how much she changed my life. If she didn't, I hope she sees it now. I will be forever grateful....

My deepest condolences to Barbara’s family and friends over this great loss.  Barbara was my home room advisor and business teacher at Cupertino High School.

She told me back in the late 60’s to go into the business world as she saw something in me that I had not.  I did follow her advice and have been very successful and it was all due to her vision and the confidence she had in me.  

The Cupertino High School Class of 1971 just celebrated their 50th Reunion the day after Barbara’s passing.  She was there with all of us in spirit.  

RIP dear Barbara, you are with God now.
