Santa Clara
After a valiant fight against multiple medical problems for eight months, Bea Lichtenstein, 74, now sits at the right hand of god and is at peace.
Bea was born to Lloyd and June Hoagland, July 22, 1936 in McCool Nebraska. She was the oldest of four Hoagland children, Robert (Sue) of Oranglevale, CA; Patricia (Don) of Watsonville, CA and Evelyn (deceased).. A graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School and San Jose State University, Bea married her college sweetheart, Ken Lichtenstein, June 19, 1960. She was the mother of two son, Jeffrey Eric of San Mateo, CA and Brian Daniel (Melissa) of Salt Lake City, UT and the proud grandmother of two, David and Lissann, both of Salt Lake City.
Bea moved to Santa Clara, CA in mid-1962 and soon became involved in the community. Including positions with the Sutter School and district PTAs. A founding member of the Santa Clara Arts and Historical Consortium, Bea was the group’s President for over two decades; Bea also helped found the Santa Clara Historical Society and was President for over a decade. Working with members of the community and City of Santa Clara City Council, Bea was able to save two historic properties, the Haeden-Inman House and the Harris-Lass House.
Her decades of interest in the history of the City of Santa Clara resulted in her writing two best selling books in the Arcadia Publishing Company series Images of America, Santa Clara and Cemeteries of Santa Clara. Bea also served as a member of the Santa Clara Historic Commission for 10 years, including multiple years as chairperson.
A memorial will be held Saturday, August 7, 2 PM at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara
