Resident of San Jose, CA
10-24-1921 – 8-6-2010
Betty was the beloved wife of 64 years to Andrew, adoring mother to Andrea (Don) & Tom (May), loving grandmother to Kyle (Mia), Matthew, Ryan, Alex, Pete, Ashley (Bryce) & Tony, great-grandmother to Curtis.
Betty passed away peacefully after a long struggle with dementia. She was born in Carthage, TN. She spent most of her youth in Greeley Colorado. After her marriage to Andrew in 1946, they came to San Jose to settle and raise their family.
Betty was active with her children’s school functions and in her church. She was the secretary at Immanuel Lutheran Church in San Jose for many years. Once her children were grown she went to work at Santa Clara University as the Music Department Coordinator. 15 years she spent guiding young lives through the challenges of a music degree. “Mrs. E” was how she was known and loved by many.
Betty loved and adored each of her grandchildren. They were the joy of her later years. She was their advocate and unwavering supporter. All you had to do was ask her and she would tell you just how perfect each of them was. Andy and Betty became grandma and grandpa to every sports team member of every sports team their grandchildren played for. Sitting in their lawn chairs, or on the bleachers, rooting for the team was a regular activity which they loved.
As Betty’s health became frail she stayed closer to home. Her neighbors were always important to her but now her friendships with them became her social outlet. Both Betty and Andy think so much of all their neighbors and how they looked after the two of them. Genevieve Lane is a special place and Betty felt happy that this was her home.
Arrangements under the direction of Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, Santa Clara, CA.
