Carolyn Frances Walsh

Carolyn Frances Walsh passed away on March 31, 2016 in Santa Clara, CA surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born on October 31, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas as the only child to Clendon Frank and Effie Mae Adell. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her parents, her eldest daughter Patty Walsh-Ewing, and her son-in-law Greg Hullin. Carolyn and Tom married in 1947 in Wichita and relocated to Santa Clara in 1952. She lived in the same house they bought in 1953. She spent much of her early life playing the violin, was an accomplished violinist, and performed in the Wichita State University Symphony. Mom devoted much of her adult life raising her eight children. She also worked at Teledyne in Sunnyvale, CA from 1972 to 1987. Mom was in the St. Justin choir and the Ladies Guild, was an avid reader, and enjoyed staying on top of topics in local and world news, sports, and cultural events.

Carolyn was the beloved mother of Patty (deceased), Mary (Greg), Michael, Carolyn (Arlen), Colleen (James), Christine, Linda (Tara), and Margaret. She was the adoring grandmother of Kathryn, Thomas, Theresa, Patrick, Elise, Randall, Lauren, Owen, and Gavin and great grandmother to Ashlyn (Kathryn and Richard) and Charley and Wyatt (Theresa and Michael). Mom's favorite and cherished activity was family gatherings and was always in the center of all the festivities. Mom had a giving, loving, warm heart and her spirit will live on forever in her family. She had such elegance, grace, and beauty. We will truly miss her warmth, her smile, her sense of humor, and the way she made every person feel special.

The visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the rosary at 7:00 PM at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara, CA 95050. The funeral to celebrate Mom's life will be held on April 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. Justin Catholic Church, 2655 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA.
