Catherine Marie Vieira

Catherine M. Vieira passed away on March 10, 2016 at her home in Santa Clara, California. She was the devoted wife of her predeceased husband, Albert S. Vieira. Loving mother of Linda (Patrick Boring) Vieira and Manuel (Lina) Vieira. Dear grandmother of Albert, Elisabeth and Manuel Vieira. Daughter of Manuel Souza and Frances Pereira. Sister of Carl A. Souza, Albert A. Souza and Frances Souza. Aunt to Beverly Bettencourt,Diane Coelho and Barbara Souza. Great Aunt to Kristy, Manuel (Lori) and Benjamin (Andrea)Bettencourt. Great-Great Aunt to Wayne, Eastyn and Emmy Urbina, Lavelle, Morgan, Kyle, Sierra and Michael Bettencourt; and Bella and Demi Dominguez.

Catherine was born on August 4, 1937 in San Jose, California. She lived in Santa Clara her entire life. She was raised on a dairy and loved animals -- especially cats. She is survived by her current feline companion, “Tiger”. Catherine graduated from Santa Clara High School, Class of 1956. Her favorite pastime was gardening; she so enjoyed the colorful displays of flowers that she planted. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Catherine was a proud member of the Luso-American Life Insurance Society; her membership was held in Council 20B-44C-68B of Mountain View-Santa Clara. She served the Luso-American Fraternal Federation as the District Youth Director of Youth Council # 11 for many years and was an Honorary Vice-President until her passing.

Catherine was a member of many Portuguese Holy Ghost Societies and of fraternal benefit societies such as the S.P.R.S.I. (Luso-American Life Insurance Society) and S.E.S. (P.F.S.A.); she was a lifetime member of the I.F.E.S. of Mountain View.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA. There will also be a visitation at 6:00 PM with a Vigil and Mass beginning at 7:00 PM at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara Street, San José, CA. Entombment will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA.
