Dec. 26, 1951-July 10, 2011
Resident of San Jose
Dan was born in Myrtle Creek, OR. to Dorothy and Ed Sheldon. He became a wizard in electronics almost from birth, he created a radio in 2nd grade, became one of the youngest "ham" operators in the state, purchased and ran Hale's TV of Milpitas and, most recently, helped run a major regional TV repair center.
Dedicated to community service, Dan took the Scout Law requiring him to "help others at all times" quite seriously. For example, he was active for years in ARES/RACES, an organization providing amateur radio emergency services during crises large and small. He also served the B.S.A. as Unit and Camp Commissioner and Trainer.
Also held a variety of roles with the South S.J. Kiwanis Club. He recently lost his short battle with esophageal cancer.
Dan is survived by sisters, Charlene Sheldon of Carmichael and Jeanne Sheldon of Woodinville, WA, as well as friends, who will remember him for his inexhaustible, but quirky humor and his committed volunteerism.
A memorial service will be held Tues. Aug. 2, 2:00pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd.
