I didn’t know Daniel but I’m sitting on his swing on this beautiful day with my two young kids and seeing his plaque inspired me to look your son up. It seems like he was quite a remarkable young man. I’m so sorry for your loss; his life, and your dedication to celebrating it, inspired this stranger today. 

Saturday, May 27, 2012 we went to the dedication of a swinging park bench in your honor in the park behind your father's house.  It is a really lovely spot where families can enjoy their time together.  Your father loves and misses you so much, as do we all.

You have changed me and I am learning the Bible because of you.  I am beginning to understand the glow of love that emanated from you.  I truly have not understood that Jesus is about love, joy, kindness, and helping others until now.   You are saving yet another through your memories.

Kerry and Rick, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  I know that Daniel was your life.  He was such an amazing young man when I knew him, even at age 16. My thoughts and heart is with you.

Kerry and Rick, I loved your son. Dan loved all those he came in contact with. I was privileged to be loved by Dan too. The last time I saw Dan was at Mike and Lora's wedding. We talked of his passion to be a professor and to help the poor of this world. We shared about how Jesus was working in many aspects of our lives. 
Dan loved and was loved. Dan did everything with purpose and enthusiasm.
A son with which to be very proud.
My fondest memory is when Dan called and said "You said you have a house built for ministry. What do you think of having a retreat of college students this spring?" Then having 3 years of college students come with him to "retreat" at my home. Another evidence of his love of the people around him at college.
Dan is now our "treasure in heaven". Dan is part of the "cloud of witnesses" talked about in the great chapter of the heros of the faith, of which Dan was one, Hebrews 11 and 12. 
I loved Dan. I will miss him. I will pray for you both for your loss is great.

I, too, had the privilege of knowing Dan through the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church choir. He brought such vitality and enthusiasm to the choir. And I was so impressed at his passion for his calling at Santa Clara University. I pray for God's comfort to be with you in the days ahead.

I was in the choir at MPPC with Daniel. Though I didn't know him well, I will remember him for his beautiful smile and his kind "hellos." My prayers go out to each of you as you experience such a great loss. Daniel will be greatly missed!
