Mom was born and raised in Northampton, England along with her older sister Rene and brother, Henry. WW2 broke out when mom was in her teenage years. After completing school at the age of fifteen, Mom went to work in a munitions factory making bomb shells. This is where life really began.
Mom met my father, David Vazquez, on the dance floor during the war and married soon after. Their first child, Denise, was born in Northampton, England. As soon as the war was over, mom and Denise moved to San Jose, California to be with my father. Soon after arriving, mom became pregnant with her second child Delrene and third David. We lived in a fruit orchard in Milpitas, California where mom cut apricots and picked prunes for a living. This was hard work to say the least. The house we lived in was so old you could see the morning light coming through the cracks in the front door. After another five years, along came mom’s youngest daughter Donna. Mom had her hands full and yet made the time to iron for extra money. This extra money was saved for a down payment on our first home. How exciting this must have been. Going forward, mom was hired as a cook for Spring Valley Golf Club up Calaveras Road in Milpitas and was able to save even more to fly back to England to visit after seventeen years in the United States. What a time they had. Singing in the Pubs and visiting family was a dream come true.
Upon her return home, mom applied for work at Memorex Corporation working in a clean room manufacturing computer tape for large main frame computers. After quite a few years working at her last job, it was time to retire. Thereafter, life consisted of caring for grand children, becoming a Nanny for neighborhood children, yard duty for an elementary school and working for a Brown Bag volunteer program where she packed grocery bags for the needy along with her two friends Fran and Jesse among others. Helping others was a way of life. Thinking of the times that mom helped her children when they were younger never changed as they got older. Times were hard, but mom was always there to support her children in whatever way she could. Christmas Day was her favorite day of the year. She loved watching the children open gifts with a smile on her face.
Mom passed away peacefully leaving an ancestry of four children, eight grand children and nine and a half great grand children. God Bless you Mom. We love you so very much and will forever be grateful for your precious love and support. The good Lord had a plan for you and you completed the task.
