Effie Alonzo

Effie Mae Alonzo was born on December 27, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mary and Lauro Samano. Effie passed at her home in the presence of family on December 14, 2024 at the age of 92. Effie raised three daughters with her husband Armando Alonzo, who passed in 1996. She is survived by sisters Lola, Rita, and Rachel; daughters Yolanda, Debbie, and Arlene; grandchildren Janeen, Erica, Adam, Evan, and Ella; and great grandchildren Sydney, Jackson, Logan, and Ava. Effie loved plants and flowers and took great pride in her garden and beautiful roses. After her children were grown, Effie began working outside the home, retiring from HP after a long career in quality assurance. She was generous and donated to many charities. Effie was a woman of faith and traveled throughout Europe and visited the holy land on pilgrimages with her Church and longtime companion Ed. Effie loved her family and those who remain will carry her memory on. Many loved ones passed before her including both parents; brothers Pete and Jess; sisters Myrtle, Bea and Mickey; sisters-in-law Sara and Vi, and brothers-in-law Sal and Lupe. Effie will be laid to rest on January 10, 2025 at 12:30pm at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
