Elizabeth Asher Goering, a gentle, loving and well-loved soul, took her last breath in this world on January 19, 2015. Mourning her loss are her husband, Orville, her sister, Patricia Abood, and her brother, Dewey Asher and their families, including her many treasured nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was born in the Nebraska village of Pleasanton on July 30, 1933, the daughter of Chauncey and Alice Flynn Asher, where she enjoyed a happy, carefree childhood. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, with a teaching degree, and devoted her life to teaching the children she loved. Her teaching career took her to Lansing, Michigan, then to England and back to Lansing. She went on to teach at the Grail House in Oklahoma, where she made lifelong friends, including Ms. Elaine Travers. Together, they traveled on to California, where Elizabeth taught in the Alum Rock school district until her retirement. In California, she met Orville, the love of her life, and enjoyed many happy years with him and a wealth of friends. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Justin Parish, 2655 Homestead Rd., Santa Clara on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
