Gilbert was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on October 21st 1951, Gilbert immigrated to California with his family when he was just 9 years old. He spent the rest of his years living mostly in San Jose where he attended Abraham Lincoln High School and worked as a mortgage loan officer for 40 years and proudly wore his bright blue sweatshirt, as ramp supervisor for Southwest Airlines for 19 years. Gilbert served his country as a United States Marine; he loved wine, playing soccer, singing, laughing and spending time with his family. He will join his father, and son in the kingdom of heaven and is survived by his mother, brothers and sisters, wife and daughter. He was a kind and thoughtful man, who was fortunate enough to have an incredible amount of love around him always. Gilbert's nieces, nephews and Godchildren as well as his friends and colleagues always held a special place in his heart and he will be greatly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, October 27th. from 6 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N Winchester Blvd. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 28th. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Parish, 88 Race St. in San Jose.
