The world is a little less kind. James Philip Fitzpatrick, born December 3, 1928 in San Francisco, CA to the late James A. and Mary J. (McKittrick) Fitzpatrick, joined the communion of saints on October 11, 2015 in Santa Clara, CA. He was 86 years old and touched the lives of many. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josepha Jean (Kuklinski) and three children, Mary Kay, Jim and Annie Fitzpatrick, and granddaughter, Caitlin Plewniak. Jim received his college education at Santa Clara and Stanford Universities. Jim spent his entire working career as an accomplished and well-respected electrical engineer, counting among his achievements numerous patents, and continued to work one half day a week up until just before his death. He cherished time with his family and friends, especially piloting his plane to Lake Tahoe. He could fix just about everything from cars to ham radios and was generous to a fault, making himself available to anyone that needed home or car repairs. He enjoyed classical music, a good game of Scrabble and, with his dry wit, an easy banter among his intellectual friends, in Greek and Latin. Friends and family are invited to share their stories at a visitation Thursday, October 15, from 5-9 pm, with a rosary offered at 6 pm, at Lima Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 16 at 11:00 at Queen of Apostles Church in San Jose. Donations to his alma mater, St. Ignatius College Prep, Class of 1947, (2001 37th Ave., San Francisco CA 94116), would be a fitting tribute to his commitment to Jesuit education.
