Your hug meant the world
Nobody else held me so tight
Or made me feel so right
No one’s eyes shined so bright with love
As my mom, who is now above.
Dear sweet mom, Janet Arlene Love departed on July 14th, 2024, peacefully in her sleep. She was born Janet Arlene Moore, on August 26, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio to Hazel and Charles Moore. After her mother’s untimely passing, she and her brothers spent a lot of time with their maternal grandparents whom she adored. Her father eventually moved the family to Detroit, Michigan where she would graduate from Cooley High School, in 1953.
Mom was the heart of our homes and family. She raised six successful children, Laura Holmes, George Figures, Matt Figures, Steve Figures, and the twins Madeline Lomas and Elizabeth Pellegrini. All raised to be independent and thoughtful adults. She loved her children so much and had her favorite story to tell about each one of them. Mom was twice married and is preceded in death by her first husband George Figures and her second husband Paul Love. Mom is also preceded in death by her parents, her two older brothers Walter and Ken Moore and survived by her younger siblings Gene Dunsworth, John Moore and Robert Moore.
Mom was grateful for life and adored her family. Her light not only shined in the heart of her family, but friends too were graced by mom. She was an amazing mother to her kids, and a gracious, loving beautiful grandmother. To many of them, she was a second mother and was famous for her ability to rock any child to sleep with her graceful touch and favorite kitty blanket. Mom filled the gaps as caretaker to grandchildren when her kids became busy parents by dropping off and picking them up from school until she was 84 years old. She was always there to help them with homework, school projects, and taco Tuesdays after school. Mom gave the best kisses and the tightest hugs. She loved all her grandkids. There is Randy, Nikki, Daniel, Rena, Joyce, Nichole, Mary, Matthew, Sarah, Steven, Faith, Darius, Nia, Taylor, Hallie and Perry. Mom cherished all her great grandchildren Skai Wheeler, Saelah Finch, Jacob Figures, Michaela Figures, Willow Ramirez, Michael Holmes, Jackson Holmes, Jack Sykes, Dominick Sykes, Annie, Sykes, Grace Sykes, Lakota and Sky Levendowski, and Liam and
Evie Nolan. There were so many people in her life that she loved including her daughter in laws; Suzie and Pam Figures, son in laws, Chuck Holmes, Nicholas Pellegrini, Gilbert Lomas, and stepson Wyland Love.
Mom had a beautiful smile and beautiful heart. No matter what her age, mom got dolled up as if it were still 1955. She made sure she had on fresh lipstick, black eyeliner and her favorite rouge. She loved to laugh while playing her favorite game Yahtzee. She was intelligent, witty and a hard-working employee quickly promoted in her jobs. You could find her enjoying a crossword puzzle, drinking coffee, diet coke, potato chips, and her toast smothered with peanut butter, butter and raspberry jelly. Mom loved to play the slot machines, yahtzee, scrabble and her Ipad. She could watch her favorite shows for hours such as Nancy Grace, NCIS, Law and Order, Golden Girls, Jeopardy, and Family Feud laughing with Stevey Harvey. At times, she enjoyed music from artists Rod Stewart, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie and Bette Midler - “The Rose” would always pull at her heart strings. Mom loved tuning into Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars' singing and dancing.
Mom never missed a Warriors game and was a Steph Curry fan. For many years, she was a stellar part of the bodybuilding world. She could run a gym (Love’s Health Club) and judge a bodybuilding show while chasing after two little twins.
Mom was radiant, unique, and her beauty was timeless. She is etched in our minds and will be missed every second of every day. There will never be another mother, or grandmother like her. When you look up at the star filled sky, just remember the brightest one looking back is Mom’s smile.
Celebrating the life of Mom.
