Born in Louisville, Mississippi on March 29, 1942, to parents Stella Rash and Zeb Glass. He was a very determined and hard working man, that set a good example of work ethic and how a man should provide for his family. Yet he was quiet, and observed all things. My father came from a large family of 15 children. Growing up with his family on 40 acres of land he plowed the cotton fields, as well as worked the farm; he decided to move to California to find work and a better life in 1962. At the age of 21, he got on a bus and headed to Redwood City, CA where with his brother, Ken and his wife Betty Glass welcomed him.
My dad enjoyed camping, fishing, and bbq’ing . And could cook some mean catfish and bbq ribs. He loved music, especially listening to the Blues, we have fond memories of him playing BB King, Sam Cooke, The O’Jays, and especially James Brown. He loved to dance, (even though he wasn't the best dancer).
He met and married Mary Glass and had 2 children, moving them to East Palo Alto, and later moved to Santa Clara where he spent the majority of his life. His dream was to move back to his farm style life, he loved his Southern ways, which he found in Valley Springs, CA, where he had horses, chickens, goats, and even turkeys.
He is survived by his estranged wife, Mary Glass, and two adult children, Alissa Anne Glass-Morelan, and Steven Joseph Glass. He has 5 beautiful grandchildren, which he showed a soft and loving side to, Alexander Joseph Morelan, Vanessa Nicole Morelan, Gabriela Marie Morelan, and Isabella Emily Glass, Anthony Steven Zemichael Glass.
My fathers legacy will live on, he touched a lot of people’s life in his special way, ‘Death ends a life, not a relationship.” His wisdom and life lessons will never be forgotten. Rest in Heaven Our Dear Joe Glass; we Love you Always and Forever.
