

Lily was born on November 15, 1930 in Abra, Philippines to her parents Pio Paredes Purugganan and Maria Dacanay Garcia. She was the youngest of their three children. Lily graduated from Collegio del Sagrado Corazon in Bangued, Abra, Philippines and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. She married Mariano C. Torino on July 18, 1964. Lily worked as a Pharmacist for the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines. She migrated to the United States of America in 1980 with her three children and settled in Baldwin Park, California. Lily worked for Teledyne Corporation in Culver City, California. The family later moved to Santa Clara, California where Lily worked in San Jose, California for Pacific Gas & Electric and San Jose State University.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing the piano and ukulele. Lily also enjoyed watching her beloved Los Angeles Lakers.
Lily was preceded in death by her husband, Mariano, on February 18, 2018. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Maria and Brian Chiang, son and daughter-in-law Raymon and Anne Torino, daughter Jasmin Torino, grandchildren Megan Chiang, Rayanne Torino, and Ryan Torino. Lily was also preceded in death by her older brother, Dr. Romeo Purugganan of New York, and is survived by her older sister, Dr. Edita Valera, of the Philippines.
Viewing will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5 PM to 9 PM with rosary at 7 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary in Santa Clara, California. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Church of the Ascension in Saratoga, California.
Lily P. Torino will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos, California after the funeral mass. Reception will follow at China Stix Restaurant in Santa Clara, California.
