7, 2025, in San Jose, California. He was 93. Born on March 4, 1932, in Hanford, California, Lou
was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He grew up playing multiple sports throughout his youth and
continued competing during his service in the U.S. Air Force, where he served during the
Korean War. While stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, he met the love of his life, Lydia
Soto.
After completing his military service, Lou lived in several places before ultimately settling in San
Jose. He worked for many years with the U.S. Post Office and later became the owner of his
own ice delivery business. Through his business he served numerous small coffee shops in
downtown San Jose, as well as local hospitals, sports venues, and concert facilities throughout
Santa Clara County.
In his free time, Lou continued competing in recreational sports teams and excelled in every
sport he played. Eventually he discovered golf, a sport that quickly became his greatest
passion.
Lou passed along his deep love of sports to his four children, a passion that remained a
constant throughout his life. Lou was always in attendance at their youth & high school games,
and in later years, at the games they coached. Lou formed lasting connections with their friends,
always ready with a smile or a story, and available to lend a helping hand.
He is remembered by many of his children’s friends, as a "second dad” or mentor. Lou touched
countless lives and he was known for his caring nature, kindness, and generosity - for being that
dad who was always there.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Luna and his former wife, Lydia. He is survived
by his siblings Dee Dominguez, Richard Luna, and Barbara Giron; his sons Michael, Ruben,
and Ernie; his daughter Judi; and many nephews and nieces.
There is now an empty seat at the Garden City Card Club, a place where Lou spent many
happy hours
