Resident of San Jose.
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother entered into rest on April 17, 2011 at the age of 87. Margaret was born on June 11, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the first of three children born to David and Georgina Strang. She was raised on the family farm in Aberdeen, Idaho and moved to California in 1944.
Margaret graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1941 and attended the University of Idaho. After leaving the University, she joined the Waves and proudly served our country during World War II. It was while stationed at Moffett Field that she fell in love with the Santa Clara Valley and decided to make the Willow Glen area of San Jose her lifetime home. She married, raised two daughters, and spent a career in the real estate business.
Her door was always open to family and friends. She loved traveling, reading, history, and family genealogy. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution. The CAR was an especially wonderful experience for her because she was able to spend quality time with her two great grandchildren who were members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and brother Carter Strang. She is survived by her children Kathleen Watson and Annette Elrod, grandchildren Eric Watson, Elizabeth Calasopa, and Emily Elrod, great grandchildren Jessica and Gregory Calasopa, sister Anne Locke, and son-in-law Lawrence Elrod.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks to Matthew Kumparak for his loving and devoted care of Margaret.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 26, 11:00a.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Interment at Mission City Memorial Park.
