Mary Ellen Wells

Mary passed away peacefully on April 23, 2011. She joins her mother, Ellen, her father, Michael, and brothers, Dan and Frank Barrett. She was born on 9/7/1919 of Irish immigrant parents in San Francisco. She is survived by her husband, William, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dick Webster, son, William, and granddaughters, Sheila and Bridget, who will all miss her dearly.

She attended St. Paul's Elementary School and Balboa High School in San Francisco. Mary met her husband when she transferred to work in Decatur, IL. They moved back to SF, where she worked as a secretary at the SF City Hall for over 10 years. They then moved to Santa Clara in 1957 where she raised her two children. She worked part-time for several years at W T Grant's in Santa Clara. Mary and Bill travelled extensively in retirement with the Santa Clara Senior Center.

Visitation will be on 4/27 from 5-8 pm with rosary at 7 pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Funeral will be on 4/28 at 10 am at St. Justin's Church, 2655 Homestead Rd., Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society.
