Born on July 26,1940 in San Francisco, Noreen dedicated her life to nurturing others—both at home and school. As a wife and mother, she poured her heart into caring for her family with love, strength, and unwavering support. As a teacher for over 28 years in Catholic elementary schools, she touched the lives of many, many students with her patience, wisdom, and passion for education.
Noreen Anne is survived by her husband, John, children, Meghan Esparza (Chavo) and Sean Brennan, Grandchildren, Alana, Xavier and Alex, her sister, Joan Kelly-O’Rourke many friends and former students who continue to carry her lessons with them. She is preceded in death by her parents Larry and Betty Kelly, her Aunt, Sister Thaddea, PBVM.
After high school, Noreen entered the Presentation Sisters and remained in the convent for 13 years. She received an outstanding education and was well-prepared to enter the world of teaching. Upon leaving the sisters, she met and married John Brennan, the love of her life.
She devoted herself to her children and when grandchildren came along, she assisted in caring for them as they grew and matured.
As a teacher, she developed a reputation for being both strict and deeply compassionate. Her classroom was a place of structure, warmth, and high expectations. She believed in the power of education to shape futures and in every child’s potential to succeed. Many students remember her not just for the lessons she taught, but for the values she instilled: respect, discipline, and kindness.
She lived the Gospel with quiet power—never seeking recognition, always seeking justice. Her life was a testament to the belief that loving God means loving people, especially the most vulnerable.
