Rosa E. Rodriguez, MD

Rosa E. Rodriguez, MD passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 7, 2022. She was born August 17, 1937 in Lima, Peru to Samuel and Maria Llanos. She was the second of 5 siblings: Ana Maria, Maria Antonieta, Jorge, and Norma. Raised in Huancayo, Peru, she excelled as a student. She loved to read, draw, and paint in her spare time. She studied medicine at San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. After graduating, she left for the United States with the love of her life, her husband, Carlos E. Rodriguez. She remained close with her Peruvian family, supporting them any way she could.

Settling in San Jose, CA, Rosa started her professional life as a pediatrician at a children’s clinic in Gilroy, CA. She cared deeply for the South Valley community, volunteering as a bilingual doctor at migrant farm worker camps. The pediatric clinic eventually moved to San Martin, CA where she became the Director of Pediatrics. Rosa was passionate about caring for the underserved children of the community. She strove to continually improve healthcare services at the clinic. Her 30 years there were spent earning the love and respect of her colleagues, patients, and their families with her personal, compassionate care.

Upon retirement, Rosa received a resolution of commendation from the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors for her exemplary service. In her retirement she dedicated herself to family and friends, embracing any opportunity for a get together with traditional Peruvian food and music. Her home was the nexus of family celebrations, hosting countless birthdays and even weddings. She is survived by her sons Jaime Rodriguez and Enrique Rodriguez, and her four grandchildren: Elena, Camila, Emiliana, and Luciana.
