Rosie is survived by her devoted husband, Roger Ricasa, her four children Rozelyn Radoc, Mary Ann Salvador, Rizal Ricasa, and Didi Wong, eight grandchildren, sisters Lele Solis, Myr Hakes, and Medy" Solis. Rosie is predeceased by her parents Marcos Sr. and Faustina Solis, and siblings Lolita, Bartolome, Jose, Consolacion, and Marcos Jr.
Rosie was born and raised in Rosario, Cavite, Philippines on February 7, 1940. She received her BS degree in Education at the University of Santo Tomas and later taught grade school in her hometown. At that very same grade school many years earlier, she met Roger who, unbeknownst to her, would become the love of her life (however, sparks flew for Roger the first time he saw her). They dated for two years before eloping on April 1, 1963, followed by a church wedding on April 27,1963. They welcomed their four children, with the firstborn in 1963, and the youngest in 1971.
Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was known as "Nanay Rosie" to her family and friends. She and her family emigrated to the United States in 1970. Her first employment was in Western Electric for 10 years, and then at VTA for 15 years, before retiring in 2002. Rosie enjoyed traveling the world, frequently visiting her hometown in the Philippines, and living between her homes in Ewa Beach, HI and Santa Clara, CA. She was an also avid gardener and spent her days tending to orchids and fruit-bearing trees in her backyard. Another specialty of Rosie's was cooking delicious food, from leche flan, adobo, pancit, palabok, sarsa, and kare-kare to name a few. She doted on each and every one of her grandchildren and always had encouraging words for them. Rosie is dearly missed but the family is comforted knowing that she is now free from pain.
