Sal was born in San Jose, CA, to Joseph and Mary Polito and graduated from San Jose High School. Sal was attending San Jose State University when he answered the Nation’s call and served honorably in U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. During his service, while posted in England, he met Vera Bray who became his wife. Sal’s service as a photographer in the Air Force led him to his lifetime occupation which included running a private portrait studio and subsequently worked for the Army Corp of Engineers until his retirement in 1997.

Sal is survived by his wife, Vera. He was a proud father of two daughters: Lynn and Sally, and one son: Stephen.

Sal will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Vera Polito, his brother, Joseph (Susan) Polito of San Jose, CA, his sister, Marilyn Goodwin of Ventura, CA, devoted children, Lynn Kayser (Steven) of Monterey, CA, Sally (Lee) Cheney of Old Hickory, TN and Stephen Polito (Mame) of Folsom, CA. Sal will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Sara and Michael Kayser, and Linda and Aaron Polito, and many nieces and a nephew. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Sal was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, Forty-Niners, and motorsports. He loved to fish, travel, grow roses and attend family gatherings, and always had his camera nearby to capture the event.

He will be buried in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, Ca. A private service will be held prior to the burial. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
