Segundo Guillermo Rodriguez Bosas is the son of the late Jose Bosas. He is survived by his mother Conception Bosas, his brothers; Mario, Alejandro, and Francisco, his sisters; Corazon, Primitiva, Editha, Eulalia, and Yolanda, nine nieces and nephews, and 3 grand nephews.
Although our hearts are heavy and deeply saddened, we would like to share some stories with you to remember Segundo and celebrate his life.
Segundo, known to most of us as Unding, was born in Abra Philippines on Dec 19, 1967. He moved with his family to Hawaii when he was a little more than a year old. He attended Kuhio elementary and Washington Jr high in Honolulu. His sister, Angit, says one of her favorite memories was having fun trick or treating in hawaii with their plastic masks. Mira recently shared a story he once told her. When his mom was working in Kuhio elementary school's cafeteria, she would walk over and cut his food in front of all his friends as soon as she saw Unding. He said he was so embarrassed that he would save his lunch money and just get food from the manapua man after school.
In 1980 he moved to California and graduated from Wilcox High School.
He had many friends that became close friends of the family. It was a close brotherhood called the Warriors. He loved to tell stories about his adventures with his friends as a young man. Yes, back when they had afros and break danced down at the house on Orthello.
As I mentioned earlier, Segundo is known by most of us as Unding. I bet you didn’t know that his whole name was Segundo GUILLERMO Rodriguez Bosas. There was no doubt that Unding held his family dear to him. He was someone in our family that made you feel welcomed no matter what generation you were from. He could connect with everyone. Everyone in our family has many memories of walking into the house and seeing him in his uniform...shorts and no shirt. Sandy has a funny memory of telling him that he’s the only person she knows who feels naked with a shirt on. His greetings were always unique and never failed to make someone laugh. A lot of his nieces recently nicknamed him gossip girl because he knew what was going on with everyone in our family. A lot of us remember his sense of humor. At a first impression, some may have taken his remarks as harsh, but we all knew that they were his way of telling us he loved us. He was always honest in his opinions and advice and we all appreciated that. Edwin remembers being able to talk about anything and everything with Unding for hours. Adrian remembers Unding picking him and Jerry up at my house in his blue Camaro. His sister Editha has fond memories of Unding being her gambling buddy. He was like a shadow always by her side and making sure she didn't lose all of her money. Everyone knows Angit's love for foreign soap operas. Can you believe she got Unding into them?He even spent a lot of time recently watching korean dramas with his brothers when they weren't playing video games. Jerry remembers Unding trying to cheer him up after he failed his driving test by saying "it's okay, lets go get something to eat and you'll feel better". He also LOVED to cook. He was so proud of his cooking and was always happy to cook for the family and talk about food. His cooking never failed to amaze us.
These are only some of the many stories that make us smile when we think of Unding. To my Aunty Cion, known to everyone as simply Grandma, we are so thankful to have you as an example and a teacher of immeasurable faith. Thanks to you and your sisters, we were all taught to value and appreciate our family. It is the faith and family that allowed us to enjoy a lifetime with such a wonderful person. The love we shared with Unding here on earth is only a small fraction of the love he is getting in heaven with our heavenly father and it's this kind of deep faith for God's love that consoles our hearts.
