The Man, The Myth, The Legend

June 13, 1926 – October 2, 2014

Our loving husband and father, William (Bill) Miller, passed away October 2, 2014, with his family at his side.

Born in Wooster, Ohio, Bill was the son of Edgar Ray and Glenna Mae Miller. Bill joined the Navy and served in the Pacific theater aboard several ships during WWII, earned several ribbons and received an honorable discharge in 1946. An avid baseball player, Bill played triple-A ball and was called up to the Detroit Tigers.

Bill’s love for baseball kept him involved when his sons were young, led him to lobby Williamsport for a little league charter and to startup Eastridge Little League in San Jose, CA, where he served as the league’s first president.

Bill retired from the City of San Jose after 27 years of service.

Bill’s love of his live was his wife Joyce, who shared his passion for dancing.

Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; his three children Michael, wife Mary Anne and their two daughters, Leza and Ashlie; William, wife Margaret and their two sons, Scott and Steven; Melinda, husband Vern Frediani and their two sons, Cody and Jeremy; sister Nancy and husband Lou Goorey; sister Barbara, husband Paul Jenkins and many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Richard Ross, wife Janice and his sons, Richard and Jeffrey.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 4 PM - 7 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara. Interment will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 leaving Lima Family Mortuary at 10:30 AM to Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Ave. San Jose.
