Janet was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Stouder and Isabel (Hayner) Thompson. She moved to Los Angeles at an early age and attended Marlboro School for Girls where she developed her competitive nature and a lifelong love of tennis. After studying at Finch College in New York, she returned home to further her education at UCLA. She met and married her husband, Richard before relocating to San Francisco and then to Oahu. Her deep love of Hawaii kept her there for several years before she settled in her beloved Santa Monica residence.
Janet was a skilled artist who found great joy in creating collage cards for her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and an adored grandmother. Janet was a woman with an exceptionally strong will and a determination to live a life she loved. She was a special character who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Peter Hovis, daughter, Lisa Sullivan, granddaughters, Lauren Hovis and Michaela Sullivan.
A celebration of life is forthcoming and will be announced at a later date.
