Richard Alden Conant

Santa Paula, CA

Richard Conant passed away on Friday April 22, 2016. Born in Boston, MA in 1941, he attended Milton Academy and graduated from Cohasset High in 1958. He went on to study engineering and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1962. Richard had a long and productive career which included 21 years at California Eastern Laboratories.

Richard enjoyed travel, tennis, golf, hiking and sailing and, in his youth, mossing and hockey. He was a loving husband and father who was never too tired to answer questions about science or history, and astronomy in particular. He is predeceased by his parents, Neil R. Conant and Katherine Hays Conant. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Katherine (Jason) and son Richard (Katia), as well as brothers Neil (Co), Robert and Donald.

There will be a visitation/viewing at the Skillin-Carroll Mortuary Chapel on April 28, 2016 from 4-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on April 29, 2016 at Saint Sebastian’s Church in Santa Paula, with a private burial to follow.

The family would like to thank Greenfield Care Center and Assisted Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.
