Romulus Adams Long Jr.

his 86 birthday, at home from cancer.

Ron was born June 24, 1931, in Forest City, North Carolina,

to Romulus Adams Long, Sr. and Lucy Irene Walker Long.

This is where he grew up and attended school.

Five days after his 17th birthday, he joined the US Navy.

He was stationed in San Diego and served 4 years as a flight

mechanic on a PBM sea plane in the Korea War. “Kid Long”,

as he was known, was honorably discharged in 1952, after which

he returned home to attend business college, where he majored in

Accounting. In 1954, “Buddy”, as his family called him, returned

to California, where he worked at Lockheed then Douglas Aircraft.

In his spare time, he appeared as an extra in several films

and like to dance at the popular Hollywood Night Clubs of

the day, where he met his beautiful bride to be, Josephine

Kramer. In 1955, Ron and Josephine were married and

had 62 wonderful years together. They moved to Santa Paula

in 1957, where he worked for several Chevrolet Dealerships

through out Ventura County, and to raise their three kids. He was

member of the Knights of Columbus, President of the Santa

Paula Little League(1972), and coached his kids in Baseball

and Basketball. He loved to work and surprise his kids with

adventures. In his later years, he loved to still take his wife

dancing and spend time with his grandkids. At age 80, he

took up cooking and working out on his ‘Total Gym”.

Ron was a active member of Saint Sebastian Catholic

Church for over 50 years, of which he served as an usher for

the past 25 years. Romulus is survived by his wife Josephine,

daughter Patricia (Steve) Hartunian, Pacific Palisades, sons

Ronald, Santa Paula, Michael (Janice) Ojai, California,

Grandsons Steven and Jonathan Hartunian, Pacific Palisade and

Scott Holman Burnsville, Minnesota, great grand daughter Jada Holman

Burnsville, Minnesota and sister Judy (Walter) Cone.

He was proceeded in death by parents Romulus & Irene

Long, sister Theresa Rowe, brother Thomas Long and brother

in-law Harold Rowe. Rosary will be recited June 28 2017 at

Skillin-Carroll Mortuary 738 E. Santa Paula Street at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church 235 N. 9th Street

June 29, 2017, at 10:30 am, with Father Pasquale officiating. Burial

will be at Santa Paula Cemetery to follow.
