Christopher John McCalmont

Christopher John McCalmont March 5, 1958- March 11, 2017 Christopher John McCalmont, age 59, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 11th 2017. Chris served 8 years in The US Navy as a photographer; afterwards he worked as a photo lab technician, as a church head custodian, as a hi-lo driver, and as a printing press operator. Shortly after moving to Florida, Chris worked for The Medical Department Store as a delivery driver, where he worked his way up to Warehouse and Distribution Manager, until he could no longer work due to his illness. In his spare time, Chris worked on cars and motorcycles. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Chris is survived by his wife Julie, son Mackenzie and wife Rebekah of Port Hueneme,CA, daughters Kyrie and Aden, grandsons Booker and Declan. His father Elmer McCalmont of Holland, MI, sister Patricia and husband John Franklin of Holland MI, brother Steven and wife Connie McCalmont of Coupeville, WA, and son from a previous marriage Jacob McCalmont, many nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and his work family at Medical Department Store. Chris was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane McCalmont, his sister Laureen Johnson, and baby brother Brian McCalmont. A funeral service will be held Friday March 24th, 2017 at Sarasota National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. with military honors..
