Dennis Scott Riley

Dennis Scott Riley was born in Edgewood, PA on December 8, 1934 and passed away on December 20, 2016. He was 82 years old. He is preceded in death by his brother Charlie Riley, and his parents Charlie and Dorothy Popp Riley. Dennis loved his family. He is survived by his cherished wife Jo Falvo Riley, his daughters Karen Riley Malone and Stephanie Riley, his step daughters Jackie Falvo Della Villa and Tina Della Villa Scavron. He has many grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He attended Edgewood High School in Pittsburgh, PA and studied at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh Campus). He served his country in the Army and was a proud Vet. He was employed as an engineer with Raytheon Guided Missile Systems in Massachusetts and overseas for 20 years until he retired to Venice, Florida. In Florida he had a rewarding career as a realtor, being a member of the Board of Realtors since 1970 and eventually owning Armada Realty on St. Armands Circle. Eventually he downsized to Elegant Properties of Sarasota, Inc. He explored many ventures on the side; owning Napoli jewelry store, restoring pianos, sailing, inventing a new way to play 4 player backgammon, remodeling homes from top to bottom and buying the latest in technology. He was always looking for a better way to work something, experiment with a new gadget or he would strive to dream up ways of doing something better. His absolute favorite hobby was sampling his wife's Italian cuisine. We also remember him for his love of music and of course his love for fast cars. He could listen to classical jazz music while driving his car very fast! Dennis lived the final years of his life in Sarasota and then in North Venice, Florida doing what he loved best, being with the love of his life Jo, his wife of 40 years, his two maltese dogs and enjoying life in the Florida sunshine. He had a very kind heart willing to help people in their time of need. We will always remember him for the twinkle in his eye and the mischievous smile on his face and the love that he had in his heart.
