

Born in Aurora, IL on February 24, 1943, Doc was the second child and son of Mary Margaret and Frank Alphonse Kaman.
A man of strong faith, Doc considered the priesthood until he met the love of his life, Ellen Mary Downs. They married on May 10, 1969, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Marmion Military Academy before continuing his studies at Loyola University Chicago and Loyola Dental School. He spent three years as a military dentist in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps.
Throughout his life, Doc was renowned for his kindness, patience, and love of life. He found humor in almost every situation and was fast friends with everyone he met.
Doc loved his family and cared deeply for his patients. He loved tennis, swimming, telling jokes, and going to dinner with his wife and son.
Doc was preceded in death by his brother Greg. He is survived by his wife and children, Frank Kaman of Sarasota, FL, Bridget (Tony) Barron of San Anselmo, CA, Colleen (Razzaq Al-Saiedi) Kaman of Somerville, MA, and Erin (George) Michalopoulos, of Sarasota, FL. He was a loving grandpa to his five grandchildren: Lucas, Nora, Ava, Ian, and Layth. He was a loving brother/brother-in-law and uncle to William J. (Beverly) Kaman, Richard A. (Jill) Kaman, Mary (Tom) Maurovich, Ann (Donald) Matesi, Adele (Ralph) Bagarella, Lynn Kaman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
