

Walter Frank Taylor, Jr. (Frank), 86, died on March 17, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carole, with whom he previously lived in Brevard, North Carolina and Oakton, Virginia.
Frank is also survived by his three children Walter Frank Taylor III (Amy); Amy Salyers (Jon); Kathryn Weaver (Doug) and his step-daughter Colleen Buchmeier (Gary). Frank was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Davis, Hagen, Haley, Brandon, Ethan, Aiden, Sophie, Anna, Everett, Leo, Kinley (deceased), and Piper. His sister, Susan Stafford, also survives him. Frank was born to Elizabeth Withers Taylor and Walter Frank Taylor in Columbia, South Carolina on December 20,1939. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from The University of South Carolina. During his 30-year career as an educator in the Fairfax County, Virginia school system, Frank was a history teacher, area social studies coordinator, and director of social studies programs for the school system. During retirement, Frank was an active member of St. Philips Episcopal Church and a Brevard Music Center volunteer for 22 years.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on June 19, 2026, at Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Frank be remembered with a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
