She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert E. Nerthling; daughters Bobbi Roberson of Sarasota and Karlyn E. Nerthling of Crofton, MD; and son Robert E. Nerthling II, Esq., (Erla) of Spring Hill, FL.
She was predeceased by daughter Margaret (Peggy) Hevel in 2012 and son Richard C. Nerthling, R.N., in 2022
Joyce was born and educated in Warren, PA, where she attended a secretarial academy while in high school. She later completed nurses training at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY, and Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.
She worked as a secretary with the American Red Cross and Girl Scouts of America, as well as a Registered Nurse, medical secretary, medical transcriptionist, and a very efficient assistant in the medical offices of her husband of 70 years.
Since retiring and moving to Sarasota in 1996, Joyce and Bob have been longterm members of the Church of the Palms, as well as members of Laurel Oak Country Club and others.
Final arrangements are by Robert Toale and Sons. Entombment will be within the Eternal Light Mausoleum at Sarasota Memorial Park. At her request, there will be no public service.
